THE MONEYMEN SETTLES TO FIRST RUNNER UP

Cebuana Lhuillier Pera Padala, the guest team in this year's season of the Philippine Basketball League settled it's campaign in the 2007 Unity Cup Season by winning the First Runner Up title.

During the best-of-five match between defending champion Harbour Centre, the Batang Pier outmatched the Money Men and won straight the first three games.

During Thursday afternoon's game held at the Olivarez Sports Gym in Parañaque City, the boys of coach Luigi Trillo gave the Harbour Centre group an even match but still, the efforts of the MoneyMen were not enough to turn back the tide.

The game held today was supposed to be the last break for Cebuana Lhuillier to break the winning streak of Harbour Centre but the lead against the Money Men was wide by almost a factor of ten points.

Team owner Jean Henri Lhuillier joined the team to give an all out support, attended by hundreds of fans of the Money Men.

Lhuillier praised the boys of Pera Padala for their efforts in saying, "Our boys did their best to reach the finals of this season, they've matured as a group and they showed they got what it takes to bring our team into the next level."

Earlier in the day, the Philippine Basketball League led by Executive Director Butch Maniego gave out awards to various players of the league.

Power point guard Mackie Escalona was named as the favorite player of the league while Kenneth Bono and Doug Kramer were named as members of the league's Mythical Five.
